POLICE have released an image of a man they want to speak to after an assault in Newcastle.

At around 5.30pm on Tuesday, July 24, police received a report that a 14-year-old boy had been assaulted at the Asda supermarket in Gosforth.

The teenager had left some rubbish on the floor but was then confronted by a man he did not know who then grabbed him by the throat.

Inquiries to identify the man in question are ongoing but police have now released an image of someone they want to speak to.

He was in the supermarket when the assault took place and could help police with their investigation.

The man, or anyone who knows him, is encouraged to contact police on 101 quoting reference 98430A/18 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
