A MASS participation event next month should prove a walk in the park.
The Active Sunderland BIG Walk, on Sunday September 30, offers people of all ages and abilities the chance to enjoy a tranquil hidden corner of rural Wearside.
Routes of three, seven, and 11 miles, each starting at 10am, all begin and end at Herrington Country Park.
The three-mile course is suitable for novices, families or those with mobility issues and involves an optional scavenger hunt trail around the international green flag award-winning parkland.
Both the seven and 11-mile routes take in the beauties of the Wear valley behind nearby Penshaw Monument.
Entriy is online, via www.activesunderland.org.uk, and the £10 fee includes t-shirt, medal and goody bag.
Walkers can also email active@sunderland.gov.uk for further details.
