TEENAGERS from schools in and around Richmond helped brighten the lives of people with dementia as part of their National Citizen Service.
They spent two days volunteering at a day centre for people living with the condition, run by Alzheimer’s Society.
The 15-strong group tidied the garden, painted furniture outside the building and spending time doing arts and crafts with clients.
They also became Dementia Friends, participating in an hour-long information session to understand more about the condition and how they can make a difference to those affected by it.
The centre's day support team manager Yvette Peary said: “This was a very positive experience for everyone involved.
“The clients really enjoyed having the students play games and do arts and crafts with them – and they also did a wonderful job in the garden, weeding and clearing all the moss from between the paving."
