THE Bishop of Durham has officially unveiled a school's centenary stained glass window.
The window at Thornhill Primary School in Shildon was inspired by the Millennium window in the cathedral and was made by a local artist who worked with the children to obtain their ideas.
It represents the school over the last 100 years and has the school's tradition for dancing around the May pole running from the top to the bottom of the window.
Other school activities such as music, dancing, football and computers are shown.
Also represented are significant events over the past hundred years such as the war and the evacuees who came from Birtley to attend the school, the NHS, the moon landings, the wagon works and the railways.
