IT was a night not to be missed at one County Durham museum as an exclusive exhibition was launched.

The Bowes Museum, in Barnard Castle, invited 500 guests from around the world to a preview of Catwalking: Fashion through the Lens of Chris Moore, earlier this month.

The exhibition, which celebrated the renowned photographer, presented 230 of his original images alongside 40 original catwalk outfits.

As well as a glitzy reception, guests enjoyed a catwalk by Northumbira University fashion students followed by music from DJ Abel.

“We had around 500 invited guests attend the preview, including well known people in the national and international fashion and media world such as Hilary Alexander,” said Joanna Hashagen, curator of fashion and textiles at The Bowes Museum. “The graduate fashion show by Northumbria University was fantastic –a credit to all their hard work and special thanks to Emma Jane Goldsmith the choreographer. I hope we can do more fashion shows with them here in the future.

“The guests from Chanel and Paco Rabanne in Paris, and many more, danced late into the evening to the DJ Abel.”

The exhibition will run until January 6, 2019.
