BEN STOKES will make his second Durham Jets appearance of the season when Worcestershire Rapids visit Emirates Riverside in the Vitality T20 Blast tomorrow.

Stokes, who struck an unbeaten 90 against Yorkshire Vikings in Durham’s opening T20 outing, replaces Paul Collingwood from the side that beat Nottinghamshire Outlaws on Tuesday night, with the former England skipper resting because of an Achilles problem.

Stokes is back in the Durham fold preparing for the start of England’s forthcoming Test series with India.

His county appearances have been extremely limited in the last few years, but he will also play in the County Championship game at Gloucestershire that begins on Sunday.

England paceman Mark Wood will play in the four-day game, but has not been selected for tomorrow’s T20 encounter.

Stokes’ return to the side is a major boost, and Durham will also be hoping Tom Latham keeps up his current form.

Their most recent T20 outing resulted in a 34-run win at Trent Bridge, with skipper Latham cracking an unbeaten 98 as Durham made 184-5.

Latham also scored a half-century in Durham’s 18-run over Birmingham Bears, and the New Zealander’s T20 form has been a major factor in his side’s rise to within two points of the top of the table.

“He’s (Latham) a great player,” said Durham bowler James Weighell, whose return of 2-19 was also a major factor in Tuesday’s win at Trent Bridge. “He’s done it in two matches in a row now and set us up to win the game.”
