I WOULD like to support the cause of former jockey Carim ‘Frankie’ Mohideen being allowed to stay in his job at Denton Hall Stables and the UK (Echo, July 14).
I have looked through the Life in the UK examination failed by Carim five times, which ask questions about British history and culture.
I have been a British subject in the UK for 49 years (I am previously from Penang, Malaysia).
I would have to study history of the British Empire every day in order to answer those questions.
I think those questions are very hard and it would not be fair to anyone who does not study history as his/her specialist subject.
I fully support Carim and for our Government to allow him to stay in the UK and his much-loved job at Denton Hall Stables in Darlington.
