A TERMINALLY-ill young woman has been granted her final wish after writing a bucket list with weeks to live.
Twenty-eight-year-old Danielle was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017 and received treatment, but tests this year revealed the cancer had spread to her liver and bones.
She was referred to Teesside Hospice in Middlesbrough for symptom management and pain control, however she was recently given the devastating news that her condition had deteriorated.
The courageous Middlesbrough woman drew up a bucket list and as a self-confessed animal lover, she revealed that despite having a horse and three dogs, her dream was to hold a monkey.
Teesside Hospice nurses found out about Danielle's dream and did their best to make it a reality.
Thanks to the staff and a social media appeal, Dexter the Marmoset monkey from Stockton's Wild Animal Adventures was brought to the hospice to let Danielle cuddle the pint-sized primate.
Kelly Brannigan, manager at Wild Animal Adventures, said: “It’s been so lovely to see the local community coming together to help make her dreams come true and I’m really proud that we could help in this way.”
