THE Archbishop of York reflected the feelings of the nation as he urged on the Three Lions via Twitter.
Dr John Sentamu used the social media platform to publicly encourage the national team.
In a series of Tweets during the game, Dr Sentamu told the players to believe in themselves and to keep their composure in the face of Colombian foul play.
In a final tweet sent after England’s victory, Dr Sentamu praised the team and explained his absence of tweets in the second half was due to him going to the chapel to ‘keep calm’ and think about the team’s youngest players.
In 2007/08 football fan Dr Sentamu became York City’s club patron having become a regular spectator at home matches as a season ticket holder
