THE decision on a premises licence application for a market town takeaway has been delayed.

Durham County Council’s statutory licensing sub-committee was due to hear the details of the transfer request regarding Bishop Auckland-based Best Kebab One yesterday.

However, due to an issue with a translator the item was adjourned at Durham City’s County Hall meeting to a date which is yet to be arranged by licensing services.

Rafiq Sala has applied to have the premises licence of the Fore Bondgate pizza shop changed into his name from current licence holder Rabaz Sirwan Raza.

Durham Police have objected to the application, citing a raft of concerns about the business including the alleged employment of illegal workers and its use as an unofficial youth club.

lMr Sala and Mr Raza have been charged by postal requisition with obstructing a police officer in execution of their duty and have been summonsed to appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court on Thursday, June 21.
