A MAN had a corrosive substance thrown at him by a couple in a street attack.
Around 2am on Saturday, June 9, the man in his early 20s was assaulted on Front Street, Consett.
"He was stood on the pavement between Chaplains and The Whistle Blower when a corrosive substance has been thrown at him by a woman and a man which has resulted in him requiring ongoing hospital treatment," said a spokesperson for Consett Police.
"Police are actively investigating the matter and pursuing several lines of enquiry. It is believed that at this time Consett town centre was still relatively busy and that the incident may have been witnessed by other members of the public."
