PAUL Mulrennan is unwell so champion jockey Silvestre de Sousa takes the ride on northern-trained sprinter Mabs Cross in the Group 2 Temple Stakes at Haydock today.
Trainer Michael Dods, who is based at Denton, near Darlington, announced the news on his social media sites this morning.
He said on Facebook: "It's very disappointing for Paul who's done such a great job with the filly. We all wish him a speedy recovery."
Mabs Cross is an improving filly, having won the Group 3 Palace House Stakes under a cracking Mulrennan ride at Newmarket earlier in the month.
However, she has a tough task taking on the country's leading five furlong sprinter Battaash today.
