A CROSSFIT competitor from County Durham showed her strength when she won gold at a national games.

Vicki Finn Smith, of Newton Aycliffe, fought her way through four challenging workouts to secure first place at the CrossFit BodyPower Games 2018, in Birmingham, this month.

A member and coach at CrossFit All Out, on Aycliffe Business Park, she had already landed a podium finish in the team event.

Working alongside fellow UK CrossFit gym-goers Hannah Gale and Rhian Pearson, the trio earned third place overall.

Ms Finn Smith, 34, said: “I was so happy to get to the top of the podium, it has been one of my goals for this year to win a competition.

“I really could not be happier with the result.”

Owner and Head Coach of CrossFit All Out, Terry Anderson, said: “Vicki has worked so hard and overcome her weaknesses in CrossFit with consistent effort.

“Her win is so deserved as she has a strong work ethic, turning up to put 100 per cent effort in, in the gym daily.

“Competing in the team event the day prior to the individual speaks for itself, she has a great attitude and the ability to perform well as an individual or in a team.”
