REDUNDANCIES are expected following a review of a department store chain, bosses have announced.
Jobs will be lost at Fenwick following a major review of the business, chief executive Robbie Feather has said.
The company, which has its flagship store on Northumberland Street in Newcastle, and eight other stores across the country, currently employs 2,000 people.
Mr Feather has announced new strategies designed to modernise the business as well as launching an ecommerce website.
The plans involve carrying out a review of the firm’s operations that will affect management functions across the business.
Each of the firm’s stores have always been run independently but directors are now seeking to centralise operations.
Mr Feather said: “We are going into formal consultations in May and that will determine the structure and how many posts are made redundant, but there will be new opportunities through the new structure.”
