A PINT glass was thrown at a woman who tried to intervene in a pub brawl.

The 30-year-old victim required a number of stitches in hospital to her head which was hit during an altercation outside Cobblers Hall, in Newton Aycliffe.

Police were called at around 9pm on Saturday to reports of an assault in the seating area of the pub.

It is believed there was dispute between a group of men and women and the victim was seriously injured as she attempted to intervene.

Durham Police said the group made off towards Cobblers Hall Road and were seen by witnesses sitting inside of Olive Garden Takeaway. The suspects left prior to police arrival.
