MORE than 200 suspected stolen items have been recovered from a house in Darlington.

The items, which are still in their original packaging, were recovered from a property in Wesley Court on Friday.

The goods include baby products, gardening tools, coffee, razors, electrical beauty products and toiletries. An amount of cannabis was also recovered.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and is in police custody.

The items were found by officers working on Operation Relentless – a crackdown on prolific offenders in Darlington.

Over the past week, dozens of people have been arrested in connection with a range of offences, including burglary, shoplifting, fraud and attempted robbery.

Detective Sergeant John Hoar, from Darlington CID, said: “We are really putting the pressure on local criminals through Operation Relentless and are seeing positive results.

“Our teams have been working extremely hard to carry out these activities and disrupt these prolific offenders, which is in addition to our regular patrols.

“If anyone has any intelligence regarding criminal activity in their area, we would urge them to contact us in total confidence on 01325-742199.

“Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

As part of the operation, officers have also been carrying out pop-up PACT (Police and Communities Together) events to offer crime prevention and safety advice to business owners and residents.

Road policing units have also been carrying out targeted patrols in crime hotspot areas.
