A TEENAGER needs to raise thousands of pounds to take part in an overseas expedition.
Andy Stewart, of Spennymoor, will travel to Nepal for four weeks during which he will walk the Annapurna Trek and volunteer with a community project.
The 17-year-old, who is doing A levels at Durham Johnston School, looks forward to helping rebuild classrooms destroyed by the 2015 earthquake.
He also hopes to pick up skills and experience that will support him as he hopes to study international tourism management at university.
He said: "This opportunity is a challenging expedition that will significantly benefit the local community and will teach me valuable life skills such as leadership, communication and team work."
To fund the placement he needs to raise £3,960.
He has already completed a sponsored abseil from Transport bridge, Middlesbrough.
He will hold an Easter raffle and craft fair at Spennymoor Leisure Centre on Sunday, March 25, 9am to 4pm. Admission will be free.
