A SPECIALLY produced Harry Potter-themed model railway layout will be the star feature at Newton Aycliffe’s annual exhibition.

The Hogwarts layout will be on display to visitors at the 9th annual Model Railway Exhibition to be held at Newton Aycliffe Youth and Community Centre, on Burn Lane, on Saturday, March 10.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Newton Aycliffe, the event team is promising it will be bigger than ever with 20 layouts on show.

Layouts will range in scales and will represent locations from the UK, Europe and North America.

A spokesperson for the event said: “Of special interest will be a fantastic Hogwarts/Harry Potter layout built by Rotarian Brian Winwood and for the very young, a self-drive Thomas and Friends layout from Shildon Model Railway Club.” Traders will also be set to sell new and pre-owned model railway items along with die-cast models, scenery, photographs and books.

Three full size preservation societies will be lending their support while other enthusiasts will be manning a tombola staff and serving refreshments.

Proceeds from the exhibition will be shared between Macmillan Cancer Support and Prostate Cancer UK.

Free parking is available at St Mary’s RC Church just yards from the event which will run from 10am until 5pm and is fully accessible.

Refreshments will be available and there will be a family tombola.

Entry is £5 for adults, £4 for concessions and 50p for children. Family tickets are £10.
