A 33-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with robbery after allegedly raiding two convenience shops with a knife and a hammer.
The man was arrested five days after a cashier and customer were threatened with a knife in the Premier Store, on Gladstone Street, in Darlington.
A “sum of money” was taken during the incident at around 6pm on Sunday, February 18.
Darlington Police confirmed the 33-year-old was restrained by staff and arrested in the town’s Bells Store, off Corporation Road, after entering the shop with a hammer at 7.20pm on Friday, February 23.
The man has been charged with two counts of robbery of a business property.
