THE body of a man has been found close to a river.
Police were called to Calfclose Burn near Fellgate Avenue in Jarrow at around 9am on Monday morning after the discovery was made by a member of the public.
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said the death is being treated as unexplained.
She added: "A cordon is in place in the area while police deal with the incident."
