A 'VULNERABLE' drug addict with serious mental health issues and a 'chaotic' lifestyle was spared jail after admitting stealing beer from Tesco.
Mark Robinson, of Bates Avenue, Darlington, who was released from prison just four months ago, placed two bottles of Cornish IPA beer in a carrier bag before leaving the town centre store without paying.
The 34-year-old admitted theft when he appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court.
The court heard Robinson was released from prison in September and is under supervision until September 2018.
Probation officers said he was living in poor conditions with 'negative' associates who were taking his belongings, and was on a methadone programme but was said to be also injecting heroin and had 'complex' physical health needs from injecting heroin.
Judge Helen Cousins granted him an absolute discharge after hearing his offender manager was trying to move him to stable accommodation out of the area, and away from the negative influences.
