STOLEN vehicles have been tracked down thanks to police forces working together across regional borders.

North Yorkshire Police have recovered four stolen vehicles this week after acting on intelligence from other forces.

Officers received a report that flat-bed truck had been stolen from Lancashire and the vehicle’s tracker showed it to be in the Harrogate area.

Officers located the vehicle at a service station in Ripon and found it was accompanied by another flat-bed truck carrying a car.

Officers also stopped the second truck and found all three vehicles were using false number plates.

The second truck had been reported stolen from Greater Manchester and the Astra it was carrying was reported stolen from the Cleveland area.

Both drivers - a 27-year-old from North Shields and a 33-year-old from Wallsend - were arrested.

In a separate incident, information was passed on from West Yorkshire Police about an Audi on suspected false numbers was heading into North Yorkshire on the A1.

Police officers stopped the Audi near Ripon and it was found to have been stolen from Leeds during a so-called two in one burglary when suspects break into a house to steal the car keys and the car on the drive.

The driver, a 34-year-old man from Bradford, was arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft.
