TWO cars and a cabin were set on fire in an arson attack on a farm at the weekend.

Police and the fire brigade were called to the incident at Mount Pleasant Farm, South Hetton, east Durham, at about 8pm last night.

A Durham Police spokesman said: “A cabin and two cars were set on fire at Mount Pleasant Farm, South Hetton.

“Officers are treating the incident as arson and inquiries are ongoing.”

Rob Turnbull, group manager with County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said: “We got a report of a fire at the farm at about 7.45pm.

“We mobilised three appliances – two from Peterlee and one from Seaham. The fire was dealt with within a few hours.

"The incident is being investigated as there were several seats of fire”.
