A POPULAR independent cinema has announced its new chief executive.

Holli Keeble has taken up the role at Newcastle's Tyneside Cinema, where she has served as acting chief executive since last July, leading the development of a new four-year business plan and future vision for the cinema.

Her previous role was as head of programme, where she led the strategic development of the cinema’s award-winning work across film, artist film and learning and participation, securing Arts Council ‘National Portfolio Organisation’ (NPO) status and regular funding for the first time in 2012.

As head of programme Ms Keeble also introduced a new film team to develop and curate a more distinctive and independent film programme and led the growth of the cinema’s work with children and young people which is now a significant, nationally respected and fully embedded programme.

She took over as acting chief executive from Netherlands-born Thomas Peutz.

Lucy Armstrong, chair of Tyneside Cinema’s board of trustees, said: “During the past five months, Holli has worked closely with the senior team to develop a strategic vision for Tyneside Cinema for the coming four years, including exciting developments in programme, production and talent development.

“I, along with the Board, am extremely impressed by the vision and leadership that Holli has demonstrated and it is with great excitement that we are today announcing that she will continue in the role of chief executive to take Tyneside Cinema forward into a new chapter.”

Ms Keeble said: “I am genuinely thrilled to be taking on this role permanently and I have enjoyed the last five months immensely.

“I look forward to exciting times ahead and to making sure as many people as possible are able to enjoy and experience our amazing building and programmes.”
