A HOUSE and car fire is being treated as suspicious.
Three fire engines rushed to the corner of The Fairway and Yarm Road, Darlington, to deal with the blaze at 8.15pm last night.
A spokesman for the County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said: “There was a car and house on fire, all we can say at the moment is that there is going to be a joint police and fire service investigation to because we are treating it as suspicious.
“We responded with three appliances because we couldn’t confirm whether someone was in the property at the time.
“The rapid response from the fire and the police service prevented a rapidly escalating incident from getting worse.”
The area was cordoned off as emergency services dealt with the incident.
Two of the fire engines came from Darlington and one from Newton Aycliffe.
It is not believed that anyone was injured in the incident.
