A MAN who threatened to jump from a viaduct has been talked down by police.
The A689 was closed in both directions between Bishop Auckland and Toronto while police assisted the man who was on the wrong side of the barriers on the Newton Cap Viaduct.
Police received the call at 10.56am and officers attended the incident, along with County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service and First Responders.
A force spokesperson confirmed the man, who is understood to be in his 20s, was talked down at 12.06pm.
The road has since reopened.
