THIS breathtaking image shows the diamond studded star trails glistening over a grand Georgian temple in a North-East park.
Midnight star-gazers were treated to a spectacular light show as clear and crisp skies above Hardwick Park, in Sedgefield, County Durham, unveiled the stunning sights.
The impressive views, which were enjoyed over a of period three hours, show stars shooting over the Temple of Minerva, which stands on a hill in the middle of the popular park.
The temple, which was built between 1754 and 1757, was dedicated to Minerva, the Goddess of wisdom and the arts.
Over time, the historical building fell into ruin and needed to be restored in 2004.
Among the hundreds of photographs captured by the star-gazers, this night eye-catching image, made up of 137 pictures, shows the star trails in a circular motion revolving around the Polaris star - more commonly known as the North Star.
Meteors were also spotted among the cold Arctic skies in the North-East on Saturday night and during the early hours of yesterday.
