A FUN festive fair has been planned as part of an official celebration to turn on town Christmas lights.

Ferryhill Town Council and the Ferryhill 2000 Committee would like to invite residents to the event at St Luke’s Parish Centre, in Ferryhill, on Friday, November 24.

The fair will start at 2pm with children’s fairground rides, refreshments and craft stalls before a candlelit procession involving local schoolchildren will leave at 4pm.

The procession will be led by Santa who will walk the group to the town hall gardens ready for carol singing at 4.15pm.

The official switching on of the Christmas lights will then follow at 4.30pm.

Anyone who would like to take part in the procession is asked to meet at St. Luke’s Church at 3.45pm where glow sticks will be issued to all those taking part.

After the light switch on Santa will be in his grotto, which is in the small building at the rear of the town hall, from 4.30pm until 6pm to meet children and give out presents.
