Charlotte Pepper of Norton won the 14 & Under County Finals of the 2007 Road to Wimbledon', held at Puma Sunderland, July 7-8th.

The impressive win means she will compete on the world famous SW19 grass courts between August 20- 25th, 2007. This is a fantastic achievement for the 13 year old and she is one of the winners out of 20,000 hopefuls to reach the final stage.

Currently ranked number 2 in the 14 & Under Durham & Cleveland list, Pepper only lost 5 games in her 3 matches to win the County Final. The results are highlighted below, 2nd round. Beat Jennifer Bramley 6-0 6-0 Semi Final. Beat Alexandra Cornelius 6-1 6-0 Final. Beat Charlotte Derbyshire 6-2 6-2.

The player is coached at Tennis World, Middlesbrough by Nigel Beavers. She expressed delight with her victory, "I haven't been this excited for ages! Even though I am exhausted as have been playing a lot of tennis recently, I couldn't sleep because the thought of playing at Wimbledon is amazing and I'm counting down the days!"

The Road to Wimbledon National 14-and-Under Challenge begins in tennis clubs all over the country and ends on the same grass courts that the likes of Roger Federer and Venus Williams have just graced for the past two weeks. The competition first took place in 2002 and is sponsored by the All England Club (AELTC) together with the LTA.
