A NURSERY has received an excellent Ofsted report.

Looby Lou's nursery, in Northallerton, was deemed to be good overall by an inspector.

The report noted that the children enjoyed healthy meals, such as butternut squash risotto, lentil and vegetable soup and pasta dishes, and could run about freely outside.

It said the nursery education was good, as was the quality of teaching and learning, and that children were interested and motivated to learn.

Staff managed children well and had high expectations for their behaviour. They worked directly with children and provided an inviting and stimulating environment to promote their learning.

The inspector also praised the balance of child and adult-initiated activities available in the Early Years Framework.

Childcare director Anne Louise Cooper thanked and praised all the staff, including Polly Wilkinson, the recently appointed nursery manager.

Looby Lou's Childcare was established in 1990 and moved to purpose-built premises in Finkill's Way in 2003.

It offers childcare for children aged under 13.
