WATERCOLOUR scenes of Sedgefield in the snow feature on Christmas cards produced by the town’s church group.

Friends of St Edmund’s Church have revealed this year’s cards which are now on sale.

The festive cards include two paintings by local artist Margaret Taylor and are sold in packs of ten for £4.

Membership secretary Brian Mutch said: “We are most grateful to Margaret for allowing us to use her work.”

One painting featured shows the main road through Sedgefield as it was a century ago and the other is a view of West Park Lane from Hardwick Park.

Income from sales will help to fund the preservation of the Grade-listed St Edmund’s Church.

A church spokesperson said: “The cost of maintaining such a large building is huge and help is needed from everyone in the community, as well as visitors, if it is to continue to be a unique local asset.”

The cards are available from St Edmund’s Church or any member of the Friends of St Edmund’s Church committee.

Supporters can buy packs of ten of the same scene or five of each scene.
