A CAR crash has left two vehicles badly damaged near the scene of a stabbing in the same street two days earlier.

Witnesses reported that the two parked cars – a silver Rover 75 estate and a grey Mercedes E350 – were hit by a Mitsubishi driving along Vulcan Way, in Thornaby, near Stockton, late on Monday night.

The incident, which also saw a garage and fence damaged during the crash, has occurred in the same street where a 26-year-old man suffered a serious stab wound to his back while a 27-year-old man was found with a head injury on Saturday.

Both men remain in James Cook University Hospital following reports of a disturbance at around 5.15pm outside a corner shop.

There are no reported injuries from the car crash on Monday night, however the Rover and Mercedes have sustained significant damage to the rear of each vehicle.

It is not yet known if the incidents are connected.

A witness added: "A Jeep has just smashed a vehicle into a garage towards a house and ploughed through fences, and driven round the front of the shops and ploughed through another vehicle."

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman added:  “Police received a report of a Mitsubishi colliding with two parked vehicles at around 11pm last night on Vulcan Way, Thornaby.

“No one was injured and inquiries are ongoing.”

The two men in their 20s involved in the stabbing are believed to be in a stable condition.
