FANS of non-league football club which had its FA Cup dream shattered with a 6-0 defeat have spoken of their pride at almost reaching the tournament's first round.
Shildon Amateur Football Club went out of the tournament at the fourth qualifying round on Saturday to Guiseley AFC.
However, support for the Railwaymen remains strong, with many fans taking to social media to express how well the players did against a team four leagues above them.
Club secretary Gareth Howe said: “The board of directors and the fans are exceptionally proud of the team. They played well and I honestly believe if they had scored in the first half it would have been a different result.” On Twitter, one fan wrote: “Disappointing result, but you have to realise that we have done so well to get that far.”
