A FORMER soldier on a mission for Help for Heroes has raised £14,000 in his latest fundraiser.
Phil Bartlett, from Spennymoor, County Durham, organises a clay pigeon shooting competition every year and hundreds flocked to his latest event at Spennymoor and District Clay Pigeon Gun Club, Fishburn, on Sunday, October 8.
Mr Bartlett, formerly of the Royal Corps of Transport, set himself a £100,000 target after smashing his original £50,000 target for the charity at the 2015 shoot.
And with his raffle and auction adding to the fun of the day, the 59-year-old has now boosted his grand total up to £80,000.
Representatives from Phoenix House, in Catterick, and Shooters for Heroes also be took part for the eighth event.
He said: “I’m over the moon because my target when I first started was £50,000 and obviously we smashed that and I was talked into going to £100,000 – what happens after that I don’t know.”
