A MARKET town will be launching its annual Poppy Appeal later this month.
Volunteers are being sought to help with Barnard Castle's Appeal, which runs from Saturday, October 28, to Remembrance Sunday, on 12 November.
The event has been organised by Barnard Castle Town Council, on behalf of The Royal British Legion, since 2006 and raises an average £15,000 a year.
The town council would like to hear from anyone over 18, who has an hour to spare and would like to volunteer with the street collection during this two-week period.
It would also like to hear from any businesses or organisation who would be interested in taking a static collection box.
Town clerk, Michael King, said: "The Appeal is a reminder of the effort and sacrifice of all our service personnel, past and present, who have served our country and continue to do so."
He added: "The continued success of the appeal is reliant upon the support and generosity of the local people."
