A SPECIAL church service will be held today to remember the victims of the Las Vegas shooting.

St Nicholas’ Church, in Durham, will hold a service at 6pm tonight and again at 1pm on Thursday to remember all those affected by yesterday’s tragic event..

The Market Place church has also opened books of condolence which will be available to sign from 9am this morning until Sunday after which they will be sent to the American Embassy in the United Kingdom.

Vicar of St Nicholas’ Rev Arun Arora said: “The service will be an opportunity for people to come together to express solidarity with those who suffer as a result of events in Las Vegas.

“There will be an opportunity for people to pray, light candles and sign books of condolence which will be sent to the American Embassy here in the United Kingdom.

“Durham is an international city where students and staff at from the USA have made their temporary home.

“In the midst of their sorrow we pray with them and stand alongside in response to this tragic event.”
