A SPATE of burglaries in Upper Teesdale has prompted a meeting between residents and police.

The Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Services will host the meeting at their office, in Chapel Row, Middleton-in-Teesdale, on Wednesday, September 27, from 7pm.

The meeting follows several thefts from farms and properties throughout the Dale.

A UTASS spokeswoman said: "In the light of the prolific rise in thefts from farms and residents in the upper dale it was felt appropriate to convene a meeting with police and residents to share and explore ideas for improvement.

"A hot supper will be available and all are welcome."
