A DARLINGTON primary school and Citizens Advice are set to share more than £18,000 worth of grants from the National Lottery.
The Rydal Academy has been awarded £9,241 from the Big Lottery Fund, which focuses on North-East communities and services that would benefit from financial support.
The sum is set to cover the costs of a outdoor play area for nursery children and provide space and activities for children outside of school hours.
Darlington's Community Support Unit, a discretionary scheme connected to the Citizens Advice, will also receive £9,000 from the Big Lottery Fund.
The project will provide training for volunteers and buy project and office supplies to boost their debt advice, housing, homelessness and benefits advice services.
James Harcourt, Big Lottery Fund's England grant making director, said"When you hear about projects like these you realise the incredible impact the money generated by National Lottery players has had on communities across England – it really is life changing.”
