A WAITER at an Indian restaurant has swapped his man bun for a shaved head in the name of charity.
Foy Miah, 24, of Darlington, decided to brave the hairdressing shears for the Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group (GACSG).
The father-of-one, who works at Elachi, in Newton Aycliffe, has watched his mother and cousin’s cancer battle and wanted to help others suffering.
On Monday he had six inches of hair chopped off at hairdresser Stephen Russel, in the town.
He said: “Cancer affects us all and when you see it in your family it’s tricky. I’m just giving back to the community.” More than £500 of sponsorship and saved tips will go to the GACSG to fund social outings and hospital transport.
Founder Allison White thanked Mr Miah, adding: “It’s very brave because we know what it’s like to lose your hair.”
The hair will be donated to The Prince’s Trust.
