PIRATES and princesses will descend upon Darlington this weekend.
South Park will be taken over by scurvy pirates and a parade of princesses as youngsters raise money for St Teresa’s Hospice.
The town’s first Pirates and Princesses toddle will be held from 11am on Sunday, September 3.
The sponsored walk will raise money to support the hospice’s family support and children’s counselling services.
Darlington’s youngsters – aged up to 11 - are now invited to don their costumes and join in the short walk before enjoying a picnic in the park.
Parents and over-11s can join in free of charge but registration is £5 for youngsters participating and includes a bag of treasure.
The walk will be accompanied by a variety of stalls and entertainment, with a best costume competition judged by Moana and Captain Hook also scheduled to take place.
Hospice Fundraising Manager John Paul Stabler said: “We’re all really looking forward to the walk.
“This is not only the first Pirates and Princesses Toddle we’ve held, but the first event we’ve organised specifically for younger children, and it’s shaping-up to be a fantastic day.”
