A RIDING school is hoping to secure its success for the future by building a new bungalow on site.
Finchale View Riding School, in Leamside, near Durham, wants to build the home to allow someone to live at the site.
Owners Susan and Jeff Mordey say the it will help to improve on-site security and will make it easier to care for horses and other animals living on the land.
They want to build the property close to its indoor riding barn, an outdoor arena and stables area already on the site off Pithouse Lane.
The development would be part of the greenbelt, but the applicants say the land is within an existing complex and would only have marginal impact.
The scheme has been backed by county councillor David Hall, who says local residents are also in support of the development.
