DRIVERS have been issued with a warning after two vehicles got stuck on nearby beaches in the space of 24 hours.

Redcar Coastguard helped tow a Jaguar car off the beach at the Boat Park, Marske, while earlier the same day, on Tuesday, another car had to be removed from the beach at the Majuba car park in Redcar after it became stranded.

In a post on Facebook referring to the Marske incident, the coastguard said: “Yet again this latest incident shows the lack of education of car owners taking their vehicles on the beach.

“Even in cases where people are using 4×4's they can easily get stuck - our rescue vehicle is only taken onto the beach when lives are in danger.

“The coastguard rescue vehicle is a life saving tool and not for bringing cars off the beach.”

In the earlier incident, the car involved was removed with “brute force” after it became stuck as the tide rapidly advanced.

When staff from Redcar Coastguard arrived to assist the occupants were already out of the car.

However the car was said to be close to the high water mark with one hour of flood tide to run.

Redcar Coastguard said a recovery truck was requested by the car owners, but when it arrived it was unable to reach it on the sands.

The car was then jacked up with packing using wooden pallets and the car was removed “using brute force”.

Cleveland Police officers had also been called to the scene with safety advice subsequently being given to the owner of the car.

Another two similar incidents have been reported recently in the Redcar area, making four such call outs to rescue stranded vehicles in the space of a month.
