POLICE are appealing for anyone with mobile phone footage of alleged violence in Sunderland after the Celtic clash to come forward.
An 18-year-old man was taken to hospital with a head injury after an incident at Fletcher’s Off Licence in Hendon on Saturday, following the friendly at the Stadium of Light. He has since been discharged.
Officers say that damage was caused to the premises on Suffolk Street at around 1.40pm.
Police confirmed 21 arrests were made, mostly for drunken disorder and breaching the peace, but also for possession of illegal pyrotechnics, relating to flares let off before and during the match.
Police are now hoping footage captured by members of the public may be able to help with their investigation.
Superintendent Paul Milner said: “We know people were in the area at the time and were filming the incident on their mobile phones and we are asking those people to get in contact.
“We’re carrying out enquiries to establish what happened and that footage could be vital in our investigation.”
Meanwhile, a man has been charged with public order and criminal damage offences.
Kasey MacKinnon, 18, of Bondyke Street in Glasgow is due to appear at Sunderland Magistrates' Court on August 22.
Anyone with footage should contact Northumbria Police on 101 and ask to speak to Southern CID.
