A CRICKET club is hosting a brand new music festival featuring tribute bands from the region.

Brandon Rocks will take place on Saturday, September 16 and will feature two stages with 12 bands playing.

It is being organised by Marshall Rippon, who is also responsible for Crook Fest, which has now been running for seven years.

It is taking place at Brandon Cricket Club and will raise funds to help keep the club going.

He said: “Brandon Cricket Club approached me because they were looking to raise funds.

“It’s a fantastic venue and a beautiful site for it and there’s not a lot happening like it in that neck of the woods.

“It’s a fun day out for music lovers and there’s something for everyone.”

Among the tribute acts playing are Bon Jovi Forever, Fu Fighters, The Scandals, Tubesnake , Revolver and glam rockers The Sleeze Sisters.

Other acts include Hellraiser, Tubesnake, Frostie, and Kieran Johnson Band.

Mr Rippon added: “There’s something for everyone music-wise. We have a bit of heavy rock, glam rock and a mod band so it’s pretty varied.”

The event will raise money for Brandon Cricket Club.

There will be music from 1.30 pm to 11pm and food stalls and beer tents will also be available.

Tickets are £15 and are available from the club house by calling 0191 3789288 or on-line by visiting www.crookfest.co.uk.

The event on Saturday will be followed by a boxing tournament on the Sunday, which is being organised by Brandon Boxing Club.
