'Money like that should be paid to Armed Forces and the emergency services ' - Echo readers have their say on BBC stars 'pay packets

Only one third of the list of talent earning over £150,000 are women, with the top names being men. Details of stars' pay were revealed in £50,000 bands.

We asked Echo readers thought of the announcement and whether the stars were worth their huge wages. Here is what some had to say:

Christine Hepworth Absolutely not! What a disgraceful waste of our tv licence fee!

Hilary Bowler Absolutely not. However good any are, far too much!

Margaret Young None of them are, do they put themselves at risk, save lives, work overtime, no, and those that do get a pittance compared to these.

Chris Blyth I stopped listening when he (Chris Evans) took over. He is far too loud for a breakfast show and they appear to be pandering to a young audience.

Louise McAllister They've put out a list including Gary Lineker, Graeme Norton, Steve Wright, Jeremy Vine. Top woman is Claudia Winkleman who irritates the life out of me. Sorry but none of them are worth it imo. Over paid and under talented.

Gillian Robinson Agree a lot of money but I like my mornings with Chris in it and I think he is better value for money than Gary Lineker at £1.75m for a few hours a week half the year on Match of the Day 

'San' Mike Gell If BBC are paying wages like that then they should commercialise it and use the fee elsewhere for something needed. ITV make better content than the BBC do and it's all paid from adverts. Stupid money. Money like that should be paid to Armed Forces, emergency services - the things that country need, not to make pretty pictures on the box in the corner of the room.
