A WOMAN with a lifelong love of ice cream has transformed an old farm building on her family’s land into a parlour and tea room.

Lynsey Hull, 35, has dreamed of owning her own Gelato business since she was a little girl and is proud to offer 16 flavours of her favourite treat at The Dairy Barn in North Bitchburn, near Crook, County Durham.

With beautiful views across the countryside, the parlour is located inside an agricultural building on a former dairy farm. Ms Hull and her family bought the land two years ago and have spent months renovating the barn. The result is a bright yet cosy space, full of quirky keepsakes and artwork.

As well as selling Sundaes of Yarm Gelato, the parlour, which opened on Monday, doubles up as a tea room, serving sweet and savoury food seven days a week.

Ms Hull said: “Running an ice cream parlour has always been my dream and I can’t quite believe this is actually happening, especially when I think what the building used to look like.”

Her son, Zak, eight, added: “I’m really proud of mummy.”
