WITH just a week to go until open air spectacle Kynren returns for a second year, journalists will get a sneak peak of what is to come tonight.

The Northern Echo’s chief feature writer Chris Lloyd will be among the audience at the major dress rehearsal in Bishop Auckland.

Eleven Arches, the charity behind Kynren – An Epic Tale of England, has promised a bigger and better show this year, with even more special effects and a cast of more than 1,500 volunteers.

New historical figures have also been introduced to the production, which tells the story of 2,000 years of British history.

Mr Lloyd’s full report and photographs of the drama unfolding will be in Monday’s paper, ahead of the official opening night on Saturday, July 1.

Kynren will then be staged on Friday and Saturday nights until September 16, along with a Sunday performance on August 27.
