TRIBUTES have been paid to a former town mayor and councillor by those he worked with in public life.
Michael Dalton, of Newton Aycliffe, died on Sunday following 52 years battling spina bifida and other health problems.
Despite his disability, Mr Dalton served on Sedgefield Borough Council, Great Aycliffe Town Council (GATC), as Great Aycliffe Mayor and was a “devoted”Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP) trustee.
GATC leader Bob Fleming said: “Michael was strong-minded and full of Yorkshire grit and determination. He was conscientious, hard-working and loyal.”
PCP’s Carol Gaskarth said: “Michael was our friend, colleague and supporter. He’ll be sadly missed - but very fondly remembered - by all.”
