THIS year’s Darlington Community Carnival is set to be bigger and better than ever.

Once again the event brings together its unique mix of musical and dramatic performances, family fun and carnival stalls to the town centre and Stanhope Park on Saturday, June 24.

This year, the Carnival theme is children’s’ books and authors, and the line up is guaranteed to bring a touch of summer fun to those who come along and join in throughout the day.

The Carnival Parade leaves the Market Place at 11am this year, which is an hour earlier than usual to give families even more time to spend enjoying the range of stalls and activities in Stanhope Park.

Beavers of 12th Elmridge Scouting Group have gone to great lengths in creating their Charlie and the Chocolate Factory costumes and props, whilst First Class Learning have been working with students on some Alice In Wonderland themed treats.

David French, chairman of the voluntary organising committee, said: “We’ve really upped the ante this year, having planned our biggest and best event, with the most comprehensive range of acts and activities. We’re looking forward to seeing how much communities enjoy taking part and experiencing what we have on offer.”

Those who come along to Stanhope Park will enjoy an afternoon of music, entertainment and community stalls, along with a fantastic extended range of catering and bar options. There is also plenty on offer throughout the afternoon for adults with a huge line up of live music including the Circus Villains.
