A MUCH-LOVED dog is now recovering with his owners after going missing for almost a fortnight.

Alfie was found by a farmer on Stanhope Common in Weardale, County Durham, on Friday, close to where he originally went missing on May 28.

The black and white spaniel was spooked and ran off during a day out with his owners ,Amy Dodd and John Morton, and their eight-month-old son Logan. His disappearance devastated the couple who launched a major search to find the one-year-old pooch.

Alfie’s picture was displayed in shops and businesses across Weardale and was shared thousands of time on social media.Volunteers from the Dog Trapping Team, a nationwide group of dog lovers who give up their time to help reunite people with their missing pets, also assisted the search.

Miss Dodd said it was wonderful to have Alfie home, adding: “He is such a big part of the family. We have our baby but Alfie is our baby too.”

Alfie has been to the vets and is now on a special diet to help him regain the weight he has lost. He is also receiving lots of cuddles and attention.

The couple would like to thank the Dog Trapping Team and everyone who helped look for Alfie. To find out more, search for the Dog Trapping Team on Facebook.
